The Pool at Harrah's FOTD and Look of the Night

Last night I went to a liquor industry party for the launch of the Cabanas at The Pool at Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City. The cabanas are on the roof seperate from the rest of the club and each is themed with a different liquor and for the night there was bottle service at each cabana in its themed liquor. I hung out all night at the Hennessy cabana.

 

I picked up this dress for a whopping $20 at Fashion Bug last summer. I love it cause its sexy but still semi casual.

Boxing Kitten Resort 2010 Launch Party

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the 2010 Launch party for Boxing Kitten's Resort Collection. It was held at a fab Soho rooftop venue complete with pink Belvadere drinks and yummy snacks. I can always recognize Boxing Kitten designs from the signature ethnic inspired prints. Love it. Check out their online shop at http://boxingkitten.bigcartel.com/products. Natalie Cole Turns 60??

Natalie Cole celebrated her 60th birthday with friends and family at TAO in New York a few nights ago.  I tell you preventative measures, like not smoking and staying out the sun leave you with much better results than trying to fix aging with plastic surgery any day. Solange at Club MIA in Miami

Bey's baby sis rocked this off beat green dress and ensemble to Club MIA in Miami the other night. I like the look but I'll be damned if she didn't Solange it. For those of you unfamiliar with the terminology. 

"Solange it" verb. taking a perfectly good outfit and killing it by pairing with footwear that doesn't belong. 

Solange is notorious for doing this hence why the term is named after her. Love the dress, the bow headpiece,makeup pretty much everything except the nude and black snake skin shoes. 

    

And she's still rocking the short do. Loves it. 

 
 
 

Golden Globes 2010 Fashion Highlights..Pre and Post

I missed the first half of the Golden Globes but managed to catch the second half. The fashion wasn't awe inspiring and in in the same vein no one was an absolute disaster. The rain didn't put a damper on anyone's style. Simply whip out an umbrella, get your assistant to carry it (or in Mariah's case assistant/hubby) and keep it moving. 

   

When Chloe Sevigny stood up to receive her Golden Globe for her role in Big Love I got a glimpse of the dress and almost vetoed it. After seeing the full view of her Lilac Valentino gown it's kinda growing on me. The color is gorgeous against her skin.

  

Fergie attended for the nomination of the movie Nine with hubby in tow. Love this simple dress with a pop of color. It seemed girly pastel colors were a trend last night. 
 

  

Sandra Bullock's dress reminds me of a prom dress (in a good way!). I don't know if it's my eyes but is the bottom see through?

  

We all know Halle can't do no wrong. 
 

  

Now I know Penelope is a little petite thing but the vertical stripes on this dress is making her look wide. 
 

  

Somebody please sit me down and explain to me why Mariah ALWAYS has to have her tittays hanging out? You look great but frankly I'm annoyed that whenever she's in public her boobies are on full display. You are not 25 anymore! smh.
 

  

Monique won the Best Supporting Acrtress award for her role in Precious and looked stunning in a beautifully draped gold number. 

  

Nicole Kidman chose a girly flesh colored dress but should've opted for some pasties underneath. She also starred in Nine which was nominated for Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical.

Lindsey rocked a hooded Brian Lichtenberg silver mini. I'm usually not a fan of hoods but Im on the fence with this one. The hooded area looks somewhat unfinished to me and she could've accessorized better.

NYE 2010 Fashion Hits and Misses...Fergie, J. Lo, Keri Hilson, Lady Gaga, Rihanna

As we rung in the new year my mind was racing with my usual obsession...fashion. As I ewwed and ohhhed at the fashions of the night I wondered if stars realized their outfit choice for the night would be forever recorded as how they exited the decade. Here's my picks for who left a nasty taste in my mouth and left the 2000,s with a bang.

  
    

Yes J Lo I understand you have an awesome body for a 40+ year old mom...but the bedazzled body stocking is a little questionable. What ruined it for me was the camel toe, flat backs, and baby paunch (very small but still there...I feel like I can see her uterus.)

   
And this Indian Remy human hair jacket? No comment..

  

 
Rihanna never fails on the fashion tip as she performed at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (and dare I say her hair is growing on me). Are we turning a new leaf for the new year? Eh...maybe.

On anyone else this hair would be a miss but in true Gaga style it's a hit. As usual she pulls off a look not many can handle. Her show was the hottest ticket for New Year's Eve pulling in over a $1 Million. 

 
Of course she had to give us blood...loves it! 

  

 

 

Fergie was another hard hitter. This gold tiered dress with train was my fave dress of the night. 

  

Fergie rang in the new year with a kiss from hubby Josh Duhamel in a retro inspired flapper dress.

Lucky Brand and Parsons New School for Design Collaboration Event

Last week I was invited to the Lucky Brand Jeans and Parsons School of Designs handbag launch.The celebration was held at the Lucky Flagship store in Manhattan and was complete with shopping, chocolate cupcakes and wine.What more could a girl ask for?

(New York, NY) - November 30^th, 2009 –Lucky Brand Jeans announces the winners of its design competition, a partnership with the School of Fashion at Parsons The New School For Design promoting creativity through handbag design. Maine native and current student at Parsons, Jordan Weymouth Richards and Ethiopian- born, Benyam Assefa were chosen because of their expertise in design and their impeccable craftsmanship. Their bags were designed with the utmost creative spirit while keeping in mind the true aesthetic of the brand. The handbags will debut at retail for fall 2009 in Lucky Brand Jeans stores, major department stores and specialty retailers nationwide.

Jordan Weymouth Richards and her winning design. I'm loving her cute polka dot dress and her handbag brings a punch of color to fall's muted palette. Jordan’s handbag was inspired by the naturally occurring patterns, organic and flowing in the deep dark jungles along the banks of Africa’s Congo River. Keep your eyes open for her on the fashion scene as she hopes to start her own clothing line that will have a philanthropic twist.

Benyam Assefa won the judges over with his angled twist to the classic black handbag. His design was inspired by the multi-functional use for the bag. The idea was to create a strong identity merging the image of the 4-leaf clover onto the body of the bag while still making the bag functional and keeping with the Lucky slouchy aesthetic. He would also love to launch his own creative lifestyle brand with a focus on footwear and accessories. With how well put together he was (I was admiring his suit all night) I can just imagine how sleek and fab his accessories and footwear will be.

Mmmmm cupcakes... They had some kind of chocolate syrup in the middle that was heaven. And the buttercream icing is beyond words!!

I went with my friend Mina and before you knew it we were shoe shopping!
